The Lost Masterpieces

Working in large scale produces memorable paintings.  Large format painting also creates a logistical challenge for moving and storing.  "Not everything can be saved", Joan says.  Some of the mammoths were painted over, some were sold, some were gifted or donated, and some have vanished or were stolen.  This page gives homage to those pieces that live only in photographs and memories.  They continue to stir emotions, awe the imagination, and make us long to see them in person just one more time.  While other works in the archive are also long gone, these are among the most significant.  They are the lost masterpieces.
